Chemical Peels

Introduction

Chemical Peels are a wonderful way for patients not yet ready for a laser technique to resurface and renew their skin with minimal down time. Peels are most beneficial when done as a series of treatments.

Ideal Candidates

Patients experiencing a dull complexion, fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne, acne scarring or those simply looking for a brighter tone and smoother texture to their skin are excellent candidates for this type of procedure.

How It's Done

After the skin is cleansed an alpha hydroxy acid solution of either Glycolic or Lactic acid is applied. A fan is provided to help soothe the mild to moderate stinging or itching sensation that patients most commonly experience. The alpha hydroxy acid is neutralized once the desired result is achieved and moisturizer and sunscreen are applied. One of our Specialty Masks can be added for added benefit and comfort.

Recovery

Most of the redness you experience following your chemical peel will fade within a few hours depending on the sensitivity of your skin. Over the next few days your skin may remain slightly pink and you may experience some flaking. Occasionally some areas may even get somewhat crusty, but this typically does not last more than 4-5 days. After a few days everyone will notice your more radiant, youthful skin.
